David W. Wagner Memorial Scholarship

The David W. Wagner Scholarship is available to PA students currently enrolled in program coursework. It is not available to incoming PA students who will begin coursework in August. Additionally, those who have previously been awarded a PA Program Service Scholarship, PA Program Diversity Scholarship, or a David W. Wagner Scholarship are not eligible to apply. If you have questions about your eligibility, please contact Helen McCormack at helen.mccormack@health.slu.edu.

The David W. Wagner Scholarship is an endowed scholarship honoring Dave Wagner, a SLU PA Program graduate. He was a member of the first cohort of students and matriculated into the PA Program in 1971. Dave was later a member of the PA Program faculty and then served as SLU PA Program Director and Department Chair from 1980 until his untimely death in 1993.

Dave was a student-advocate who inspired excellence through his leadership, professionalism, and service. With contributions from alumni and friends, the David W. Wagner Scholarship Fund was established in 1996 and has continued to grow since then. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of need as well as academic and professional potential including academic excellence, leadership activities, and potential PA profession contributions.

The scholarship monies awarded are applied directly toward SLU tuition or toward a decrease in loans (if semester tuition is already paid in full). Applications are reviewed by the PA Scholarship Committee which includes program graduates who were awarded the DWW Scholarship when they were students.
