Abbot G. Spaulding Scholarship in English

This scholarship is awarded to support the retention of undergraduate English majors who are in need. It is open to historically underrepresented students and to first-generation college students. One nonrenewable tuition scholarship of $4000 is awarded each year. Eligible applicants must be an undergraduate student with a declared English major who demonstrate financial need and identify as a first generation college student or a member of a historically underrepresented group.

The scholarship is made possible by a gift from Abbot G. Spaulding, M.D., who graduated cum laude from SLU in 1955 with a major in English and minors in Philosophy and Chemistry. After attending SLU School of Medicine as well as Harvard, he became a practicing ophthalmologist in Cincinnati. This scholarship extends his generosity to those of our students who are most in need of it.
